Welcome

Richelle Caiton

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to MC26 Elementary School, where we are the village!  We believe in fostering our relationships with our students and their greater community.  We are “soaring with the magic of Teaching and Learning this year,” focusing on growing our students’ real-world experiences by continuing our programs and organizations that feed their spirits and minds academically, socially, behaviorally, and holistically.

Over the past two—three years, we have been focusing on growing as a school community, and developing school culture. As a result, MC26 has been recognized for our growth. We have received awards for growing our SPS 5 or more points, our ESL students on the ELPT Assessment, our SPED students on the LEAP Connect Assessment, and have received accolades for growing our student’s experiences both socially and community wise. With the institution of our dance team, MC26 Morning Show Krewe, award-winning Ballroom Dance Team, Science/Garden Club, Beautification Squad, MC26 Delivery Krewe, Girls of Distinction Social and Community Outreach Club, and The Elite Gentlemen of MC26 Social and Community Outreach Club, we are teaching our students the power of service and giving back to the community, while growing their confidence in who they are and who they can become. Through partnerships with 4H, LSU Ag Center, and the New Orleans Baby Doll Ladies, students are immersing themselves in STEM-based and arts—based learning and exposure.  Additionally, our tutoring programs, MC Attack LEAP Prep for 3rd—5th Grades and Early Lit Tutoring for K—2nd Grade and struggling readers has added to the growth of our students overall.

We look forward to engaging our students, but most importantly our parents in the continued growth of our school community. This includes actively working with parents to ensure students have what they need to be successful, not only at school, but in our greater community as well. This also includes working to get parents to join our budding PTO and Marching Unit Booster Clubs.

In closing, we believe in supporting our students in all capacities.  When we tell our students, “every day you come to school you are one step closer to success,” we believe it.  We motivate our students with this mantra every day, as we believe they can, but most importantly—they will!
